Everybody loves to have a bit of bacon with his or her Sunday breakfast or a cheeky bit of tomato sauce in his or her salad. But we’ve been taught to treat it as a guilty secret. A bit of bacon will not pile on the pounds nor will a small spoonful of tomato sauce. Not knowing where to stop is what will cause the most damage when a small bite turns into a full on binge.
You have to find a good middle ground with eating healthy foods such as: fruits and vegetables, beans, fish, whole grains and lean meat and then eating more indulgent foods in smaller quantities but only occasionally. If you feel like having a dessert every night learning to have a small portion will make a tremendous difference to your health. You might find that your favourite Italian restaurant meal is something you want to indulge on less regularly but the next day you may find you crave the healthier meals again.
The lesson here is to learn to eat those delicious treats in moderation; you don’t have to completely eliminate them from your diet. This is near impossible for some, but having a small amount of your favourite treat with a healthy meal is absolutely fine.
